A quick read (+permission to dream)

Living Authentically, Creatively, & Intentionally

Issue #91 || October 24, 2025 || Previous issues

Hey Reader,

I don't know about you, but lately even the simple things in life seem heavy.

No matter what I take off my plate to "simplify" it just creates a vacuum in which other things gladly get sucked in.

Empty a space and sure enough it's an invitation for everything to fill it in.

No thanks!

I dream of long days of quiet solitude and warmth.

I dream of hours in front of a warm fire 🔥, endless tea or hot cocoa ☕, and plenty of books 📚 to read.

I dream of days with nothing to do that seem to drag on and on.

I dream of weeks with nowhere to go. Much like a bear that hibernates. 🐻

I dream of meeting up with friends for a hike or a cup of tea that doesn't feel like it took over the whole day.

I dream of being able to bake my heart out and RELAX while doing it.

I dream of being able to put time (and the schedule) on pause to suit me not the other way around.

I dream I have time to do all the things I dream of doing (and actually finish writing books I've started).

I'm not talking about the dreams you have at night that you can't control.

I'm talking about dreaming while awake. Dreaming that lets your mind wander and consider and play.

What do you dream of?

Do you give yourself permission to dream?

A dream that is all your own and that just lights up your world?

The impossible stuff?

The things that are unique to you and no one else would care about? Maybe others would think you're silly and laugh at.

Having dreams that never come true can feel a bit depressing. I get it. Especially when we're all stuck in that I HAVE TOO MUCH TO DO mode.

AKA productivity mode. AKA perfectionism. AKA Gotta take care of everyone and everything mode. AKA I'm just trying to survive mode.

Having dreams and going for them can feel selfish in a world that's falling apart. It can feel selfish to choose joy when we know people are suffering. Both around us and if you watch the news, all around the world.

My challenge to you

Have you ever seen an animal dream?

I have.

My dog has nightmares from time to time. He cries and whines in his sleep like something is terrifying him. It's sad and cute. I'd love to step into his mind and see what those dreams look like!

Both humans and animals dream.

But do you know what makes us different from animals?

Animals can't imagine, wonder, create. While they play, their play is instinctual. Necessary for survival.

In contrast, our sense of imagination, play, and wonder are not crucial to our survival (except maybe for children).

Have you ever wondered why God designed humans to dream, wonder, create, and imagine?

I have.

I don't have an opinionated answer to give, but I imagine 😊 God made us a lot like him.

He gave us amazing brains (which we still know very little about) that do amazing things.

It's almost like we are limited by our own imagination.

So my challenge to you is to spend some time dreaming.

Visualize what lights you up.

They don't have to be extravagant things.

They don't even have to be possibilities right now.

They don't have to be real.

I'm super curious...if you could imagine or dream of anything (no judgements, no boundaries, no limits) what would you dream of?

What would you like to come true?

I can't wait to hear about them!

With Love, Creativity, & Intention (and loads of imagination),

Anna

P.S. Think someone else needs permission to dream, send them his permission slip.

I received a few heartbreaking but all too familiar-feeling "jewelry store" moments from my readers. I'm guessing, even if you didn't send me your story, you have a few of your own. Today, I'd like to share 3 deeply personal stories that expose a painful truth: There's an epidemic of people walking around believing...

Do they mean something? Or are they random, unpredictable clips that surface the way movie quotes or song lyrics do? I don't think they're random. I believe they're clues to our inner world—pointing us toward the deeply held beliefs and stories we formed about ourselves when we were...

The Feral Housewife's Guide to Living Authentically, Creatively, & Intentionally Issue #88 || October 3rd, 2025 || Previous issues Hey Reader, This newsletter is late. Which feels weirdly appropriate given what I'm about to tell you. This past Tuesday, I felt myself "losing" it. I needed a break. I headed to a peaceful mountain and beautiful wildflower prairie to "rest." Perfect for relaxation. Except instead of actually relaxing, I performed relaxation. I brought a book to read. I jotted...
