Ever have a bad day? Or a bad moment? Dumb questions, right? Everyone has bad moments, and sometimes even entire days. Bad days / bad moments = negative emotions Ideally, we want more good days than bad. But that can depend on a lot of factors, right? Like your mindset, your circumstances, or things happening beyond your control. Can you relate to any of these feelings? Anger, because someone scratched your car and it's $$$ to fix. Hurt, because someone you care about spoke harshly to you, regardless of their intent. Fear & anxiety, because you watched the news. Or, at times, you don't even know why you feel anxious and afraid. Indecisiveness. You've got decisions to make, big and small, but you don't know which way to go. Envy because someone has what you want or seems to not struggle the way you do. Loneliness, cause let's face it, 1,000 Instagram friends isn't the same as having one true friend (in the flesh). Hey, if it happens to me, it happens to you. Now, here's a question: How long does it take you to recover from a bad day or moment? Minutes? Hours? Days? Weeks? Months? Years? 😱 What if you're really stuck?Part of being human is experiencing a broad range of emotions. I can swing from cheerful 😆 to angry 😠 to depressed 😟 in minutes, if not seconds. What would happen if you got curious and dug deeper into your feelings? You'd see that your feelings are indicators. Like a flashlight lighting up our dark spots, feelings bring to light what we believe and the stories we tell ourselves. Whether the stories are true or not. Let's review some crucial steps for moving through negative emotions. Step 1: Increase awareness & curiosity of your thoughts. You can't fix a a leak until you find the source. Keep asking yourself, “Why do I feel this way?” until you reach your core emotion. Step 2: Validate. If you hear yourself saying, "I shouldn't feel this way. I should be happier, more grateful, etc." 🛑 STOP! 🛑 That's giving yourself a guilt trip for turning static into clarity. You finally got clarity - own it! Step 3: Release the negative emotions. Often times, we get stuck right here and don't know how to move on. How are you supposed to RELEASE anger, anxiety, hurt, sadness, depression, or fear? Is it a snap of the fingers and the ugly feeling vanishes? Do you just will it away with your mental mightiness? Is it better to just ignore your feelings until they go away on their own? What works (and what doesn't)If you get a speeding ticket, would you shove it in your coffee cup holder, hoping it disappears? If you ignore it, doesn't everyone else? Won't it resolve itself? Ha! Wouldn't that be grand? The consequences of ignoring the ticket would be worse than if you just owned up and paid the fine. It's similar when it comes to our emotions. The consequences of bottling up our feelings are worse than facing them head-on. Try these to process & release negative emotions:
But - Anna - is there anything ELSE I can do? Glad you asked! Yes, there is something else. And it's easy too. They're called Bach Flowers - because everything we need is in nature. Bach Flowers: nature's emotional resetI thought everyone knew about Bach Flower Remedies. But I'm realizing that's not true, so I'm happy to briefly share some info. Dr. Edward Bach, a 1930s physician, bacteriologist, and homeopath in England, became disillusioned with conventional medicine. He dedicated his life to finding a simpler, natural healing system. He continually searched for better ways to help his patients. Bach believed that emotional imbalances were the causes of all disturbances in the body. By 1935, he discovered 38 flower remedies to address specific emotions like Mimulus for fear. Pine for Guilt or Red Chestnut for the over concern of others. When your negative emotion is identified and you're matched up to the correct flowers (up to 7) it releases the negative emotions and restores you to a more positive, balanced state. Since Dr. Bach, many around the world have discovered other flower remedies in their neck of the woods. That's why you might come across additional flowers that aren't part of the original Bach Flower Remedies. So, if you're emotionally stuck, why not try a Bach Flower Remedy? Try This: Journal Your Way to ClarityPick an emotion you're stuck on (guilt, fear, overwhelm). Find a quiet and calm space and write: “What’s this feeling trying to tell me? What would letting it go feel like?” Identify the why behind the emotion, and that'll lead you to the right flower. Feel free to email me your results if you wish. What's next?Fresh flowers are a beautiful gift. They cheer us up, but the effect fades. Eventually, flowers wither and die. Imagine if you could capture their essence for permanent relief? That's exactly what Dr. Bach did! Thankfully his knowledge and dedication have been passed on to us. If you're curious about which of the 38 remedies fits your needs, reply to this email and I'll help you take the next step. Skeptical? Just try it and feel the shift!
